Accounts Assistant (Insurance)

Barker Munro recruitment is assisting a new Insurance client with an Account Assistant role to join their dynamic finance team. They are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day finance operations and ensure the timely collection of outstanding premiums.
As an Accounts Assistant, you will maintain accurate financial records and assist in credit control, playing a key role in the finance team of this Insurance organisation.
Key responsibilities include;
Credit Control & Accounts Receivable
- Manage the aged debt report and ensure timely collection of outstanding premiums.
- Contact clients via phone and email to chase overdue payments.
- Resolve client payment issues and allocate receipts to accounts using the Acturis system.
- Issue client statements and reminders and ensure timely insurer payments.
General Accounts Support
- Send purchase invoices and process expense claims.
- Reconcile bank transactions and maintain client accounts.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the finance team.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills.
- Effective communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role is essential.
- Credit control experience in the insurance or financial services sector is a plus.
- Knowledge of FCA regulations and premium handling is an advantage.
